The Essence of Faith - Vesak Day

Alongside the Vesak Day festival, this programme tells the story of the life of Buddha, the philosophy of Buddhism and the everyday lives of Buddhists in Singapore - including young people who record modern musical versions of traditional Buddhist chants.

Singapore is a global crossroads where many of the world’s major religions are observed side-by-side by different groups. Each programme in the Essence of faith series examines the significance and symbolism of one of the festivals within the faith, alongside the traditions and fundamental beliefs of the religion. Each also features people talking about the contribution the faith makes to their daily lives.
