Regenerating a City: Glasgows Dockside and Housing Redevelopments

Glasgow is undergoing a huge economic and cultural transformation. A major re-branding initiative, extensive dockside developments and improvements in the housing stock (Gorbals) have enabled Glasgow to overcome the legacy of its ship building past to become one of the most prosperous cities in the UK. The programme talks to architects, developers, local residents and civic leaders. It explores the causes and effects of urban decline, strategies for urban renewal and the creation of sustainable communities. The DVD also contains additional case study information, photocopiable student activities and PowerPoint lesson plans, building the film into a 3-4 lesson scheme of work.
