Managing an International Tourist Destination

 Spanning over 250 km of rugged coastline and attracting over 150,000 international visitors every year, the Great Ocean Road is one of Australia’s most amazing tourists destinations. Combining great surf, spectacular natural scenery and a rich maritime history, the area is a Mecca for both local and international tourists. This programme examines how people go about the overwhelming task of managing the 3000 international tourists which flock to the area every week. Questions concerning sustainability, promoting the area, environmental impact, increasing the yield of tourism and the economic and social importance of tourism are explored.
