Emerging Superpower: Indias Booming Bangalore

Known for its call centres, Bangalore has become the Silicon Valley of India - a shining example of India’s success and a 'World City'. The programme asks what have been the causes of this success, including the role of education, globalisation and government de-regulation. It then look at the pros and cons of this growth, including the increased wealth and growth of the middle classes, growth of the IT sector, better employment opportunities, and pollution and traffic congestion. Finally the programmes questions if this city sustainable, and looks at how the public and private sector are seeking to address the discussed problems by providing better transport, infrastructure and access to services.
